CHEVERLY, Md. (WUSA)--Metro officials say that shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, two males who knew each other became enganged in an altercation aboard a New Carrollton-bound Orange Line train.
A Metro spokesman says that one of the males struck the other one in the head with a gun. The contact of the gun with the victim's head caused it to discharge one round, breaking a window on the train.
The official says that as the train arrived at Cheverly Station, a Metro Transit Police Officer on routine patrol became aware of the situation and was able to take control of the gun and arrest the suspect.
According to the Metro official, the male victim was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening laceration.
There were no other injuries and Metro Police continue the investigation.
