LANDOVER, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Landover woman spent this Thanksgiving in tears because she says she has no place to go after her apartment was made unlivable by a leaking roof.
Teresa Smith claims neither managers at the Kent Village Apartments in Landover nor roofers she says are responsible for a flood in her unit would foot the bill to put her in a safe dry unit or hotel room while emergency repairs are being done.
As a result, she is spending Thanksgiving alone will all her belongings stuffed in the lone room unaffected by the disaster.
Smith's daughter, who was visiting from Atlanta, returned home because there was no safe place for her to stay, Smith said.
The apartments are operated by Southern Management. There was no response to WUSA's call to an emergency contact number.
Workers were called in to install new ceilings in Smith's unit Thursday.
