WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A woman who has donated wedding gowns to military brides for years will appear in court Monday for allegedly stealing over $5 million from the Association of American Medical Colleges.
Officials say Ephonia Green, who worked as an administrative assistant for AAMC, embezzled approximately $5.1 million over the course of eight years.
Green owned and operated Fabulous Concepts Inc., also known as Couture Miss Bridal & Formal, a bridal shop located in Upper Marlboro.
Many years, the bridal shop joined a national program called "Brides Across America" to give free wedding gowns to brides with ties to the military.
Ephonia Green's birdal shop was featured on WUSA9 during one of the giveaways.
Green is expected to appear in court Monday afternoon.
