MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA9) -- A City of Manassas official says a possible explosive device has been rendered harmless by Virginia State Police.
Early investigation showed evidence of black powder in the device.
Employees from a business in the 9500 block of Technology Drive found what looked like an explosive device and contacted authorities, City of Manassas spokesperson Patty Prince said.
The device was found in a parking lot behind a building for the National Religious Broadcasters, Prince said.
Manassas City Police and Manassas Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene to investigate.
Authorities closed Technology Drive and Foster Drive for the investigation.
