WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- We have a recipe for the perfect burger from Timothy Dean, Top Chef finalist and owner of the new TD Burger at 250 K Street Northeast in Washington's No-Ma neighborhood.
Chef Dean showed off one of the restaurant's most popular burgers: the Obama Burger. It consists of an 8 ounce patty, all natural angus, and honey dijon.
Another burger is the Sotomayor Burger with romaine, avocado and mushrooms. There's also the George Washington and the Abe Lincoln, served with barbecue sauce and coleslaw.
What is it about burgers that people love it so much?
Dean told us "Well, I think it's more American. I think burgers, fries, a shake or a coke is what we grew up on, became accustomed to it.
"The secret is putting it on a gas grill like this. You've got to get the grill marks on there. We have a piece of sage. The key here, Andrea, I have a secret rub that has 21 spices and rubs."
He puts it right on top of the cheese.
He also told us why they opened in NoMa: "Development. Great people are moving in. NoMa is great."
