WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police are searching for clues after someone shot 4 people in Northeast D.C. right in the middle of the day.
Debra Alfarone is live at the intersection of Minnesota Avenue and Clay Place where the search is still on.
Metropolitan Police Department Chief Cathy Lanier said three males and one female were shot in 3900 block of Minnesota Avenue NE. All of the victims are stable, but two could have serious wounds, she said.
Police have one gunman and several persons of interest in custody, WUSA9's Bruce Johnson reported.
With that much gunfire, and it being the middle of the day, police are searching for evidence, and witnesses. Police say this kind of brazen, daylight shooting right in front of this Payless doesn't happen around here much anymore.
A beautiful day, now a criss-cross of crime tape. Police say it was 1:15, the middle of a busy day, when it all went down.
Chief Cathy Lanier said, "We have 4 people who were in the block who were approached by what we understand is a single, armed gunman who opened fire on that group."
4 people shot, and the search for evidence and the gunman was on. It wasn't long before our cameras captured police taking in one person for questioning. They say they took several, some persons of interest. Still, the question why?
Lanier says, "It does not appear to be random."
The 4 victims, 3 men, 1 woman, all adults. One woman is apparently related to one of the victims.
"Right now they are all in stable condition, we have 2 gunshots wounds that I would say would be considered serious but right now everybody is stable"
In a sea of people, only one person who would talk to us.
"I don't like it, I'm disgusted, I'm tired of it."
