OCEAN CITY, Md. (WUSA9) -- When a Pennsylvania couple got married recently in Ocean City, Md. they had a very special guest as part of their wedding.
Ocean City "spokesguard" Rodney carried the bride down the aisle on Oct. 11 at the Dunes Manor Hotel, and there are photos to prove it.
Lauren M. Weiss and Rob J. Semanick, who live in Camp Hill, Pa., knew when they got engaged that they wanted a beach wedding in Ocean City, we're told. Weiss, however, was having a hard time thinking about walking down the aisle without her father who passed away in April. Semanick jokingly suggested it might help if spokesguard Rodney carried her.
The couple reportedly are fans of Rodney, who is not a real lifeguard but appears on billboards and commercials in the area.
In a press release on Tuesday, Weiss was quoted as saying, "For years, there have been billboards of Rodney on a main highway in Harrisburg. The last one said 'you look pale, I can help' and he's pointing south. Makes us laugh every time we drive by it."
So on Oct. 11, Rodney was there at the wedding. We're told he brought Weiss roses, picked her up and carried her down the aisle.
