WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Seven-year-old Michael Kingsbury's body was found inside a car near his family's home on July 8 in Northeast DC. It took more than a day before police found his body.
Police now say his death was determined to be accidental. Earlier, police said preliminary results of the autopsy showed no signs of trauma.
More information is expected to be released at a later time.
Police said during the press conference in July that the car was checked out several times, by at least 3 police officers. Michael's mother told police she looked at the very same car her son, who had autism, was later found.
When Michael was reported missing, police patrols were set up in a close-by alleyway. Police used canines and academy recruits to search. Neighbors said there were two cars parked in the lot for months. Later, someone saw Michael in one of them. They had to smash the window to get him out.
