WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police have charged a 19-year-old man with an armed carjacking that occurred in the 2900 block of Erie Street, SE.
According to police, at approximately 12:15 a.m. Monday, two suspects approached the driver's side of a vehicle armed with a handgun. They demanded money and told the victim to walk away, say police.
The suspects then drove away with the victim's vehicle.
United States Park Police and D.C. officers later saw the car travelling in the 4600 block of G Street, SE. The vehicle fled, say police, before crashing into a jersey barrier on South Capitol Street, south of the I-295 exit.
Nineteen-year-old Reginald Mungo of Southeast D.C. was arrested and charged for the carjacking.
Police say two other suspects were arrested and charged with Unlawful Use of a Vehicle. One suspect remains at large, say police.
