ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - Montgomery County police say a man charged with killing a law student and high school friend told officers that "I killed my buddy" after catching his girlfriend with his friend.
A police report says Rahul Gupta told officers that he killed Mark Edward Waugh, a Georgetown University law student, after walking in on his girlfriend cheating on him with Waugh.
Officers found Waugh stabbed to death inside a Silver Spring apartment that police say Gupta and his girlfriend shared. Police say the three had all been out celebrating Gupta's 24th birthday and had been drinking.
Gupta is due in court later Tuesday. His lawyer, Reginald Bours III, said his client is an "outstanding young man" and that there's nothing in his background that could have predicted this.
