GERMANTOWN, Md. (WUSA9) -- An ex-husband and his current wife have been arrested for the homicide of Preeta Paul Gabba in Germantown, Montgomery County Police said.
Gabba was found with a gunshot wound in the 19700 block of Crystal Rock Drive on Saturday at 7:46 a.m. after people reported hearing gunshots in the area, police said.
She was transported to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Several witnesses reported that a woman was seen walking near Gabba at the time of the shooting, but she left before police arrived at the scene, police said.
Gabba's former husband, 62-year-old Baldeo Taneja of Nashville, Tenn. was scheduled to be in court in Montgomery County on Thursday regarding a domestic issue but failed to appear for the hearing, police said.
They say they also discovered that Taneja and his current wife, 63-year-old Raminder Kaur, were both in Montgomery County on Friday and Saturday. Both had purchased two firearms in Nashville on September 28, according to police.
Police say arrest warrants were then issued for Taneja and Kaur for First Degree Murder and Conspiracy to commit First Degree Murder.
On Sunday, Taneja and Kaur were arrested in Nashville and both were charged as Fugitives from Justice, according to police. They are incarcerated in Tennessee and are awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
