District of Columbia tax refunds affected by shutdown

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Tax refunds for DC residents will be affected by the federal government, officials said in a press release.

It said, "To the extent that individual refunds are paid after 90 days, and business tax refunds are paid after 180 days, from the date of application, interest as provided by law will be paid." OTR will continue to accept all tax returns as they are due. 

OTR advises all taxpayers: 

•To continue to file and pay taxes as normal
•That all tax deadlines remain in effect, including those covering individuals, corporations, partnerships, and employers.
