WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The man that set himself on fire at the National Mall has died, according to DC Police.
Police say the man had such extensive burns that he will need to be identified through DNA and dental records.
The incident happened around the area of 7th and Jefferson Drive on Friday. Witnesses said he poured a can of gasoline on himself and set himself on fire. Joggers going by took off their shirts to try to put the fire out, the Associated Press reported.
The man was 'conscious and breathing' when he was transported to the hospital in critical condition after officials extinguished the fire, officials said.
