14-year-old Marquette Bell killed in accident, teen charged in fatal crash

FAIRFAX CITY, Va. (WUSA)-- Virginia State Police have identified the victim of a fatal crash that occurred during a police pursuit of a 15-year-old driver. 

Authorities say, 14-year-old Marquette Bell was in the passenger seat of a Honda Accord that sped away when a trooper attempted to pull the car over for driving erratically on Saturday just before 1 a.m.  

The driver, a 15-year-old male, ran a red light in the intersection of Route 29 and Route 50, and hit a Toyota Camry that was crossing the intersection, police said.

The 15-year-old then fled on foot but was caught. Bell was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. 

The driver of the Camry, Yassim A. Fereva, of Fairfax, was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The teen has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, one felony count of attempting to elude police, one felony count of hit-and-run, and driving without a driver's license.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
