LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County police have arrested a suspect for a double murder that happened in May.
Thurston Lamont Yerby, 47, has been charged with first and second degree murder for the deaths of James Vell Ferguson, 42, and Tina Lynn Towler, 45.
On May 2, 2013, at about 8:15 a.m., police responded to the 9600 block of Muirkirk Road for a welfare check.
Police found the two victims, a man and a woman, suffering from wounds to the upper body. They were both pronounced dead on the scene.
Yerby and Towler had a romatic relationship, according to police investigation. DNA evidence puts Yerby at the scene of the murders, officials said.
Police also found Towler's 25-year-old disabled daughter in the home uninjured. A nurse, assigned to monitor the daughter, found the victims during a routine visit.
The daughter is currently being cared for by the State of Maryland.
The PGPD will discuss Yerby's arrest and the investigation at a news conference Friday at Prince George's County Police Headquarters.
