WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- After all the hullabaloo stirred up by Fox News, only a dozen or so mostly 9/11 conspiracy marchers made it from the Washington Monument up and around the Capitol and back to the White House.
It 's called the Million American March Against Fear but fewer than 20 people turned up. And the March originally billed as a Million Muslims on 9/11 was shadowed by a group of rabidly anti- Muslim counter-protesters.
The 'March Against Fear' was organized in part by the American Muslim Political Action Committee.
"I am pro America. I wake up pro-America. I go to sleep pro-America," said MD Alam, who led the effort.
It's focused on Muslims who have been hurt since 9/11. "That concerns not only the people murdered on that day," said spokesman Kevin Barrett, "but also people who have been deprived of their lives, liberty and property since that day."
"I come from a people who have known 400 years of terrorism in the form of slavery and Jim Crow and the new Jim Crow today," said activist Cornel West, who joined the protest.
But many people who believe in religious freedom may have been scared away because several of the organizers believe 9/11 was an inside job committed by US intelligence agents.
There were plenty of cops to head off trouble but there wasn't much, just a whole lot of screaming.
