WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- A 17-year-old Manassas girl has been charged in a fatal collision with a bicycle rider.

Prince William County Police said 66-year old Joseph James Callahan Jr. was riding his bike in the 14000 block of Spriggs Road near Hylton High School when he was struck and killed by a car driven by the teen on Sept. 6, 2013.

The teen, who was driving a Ford Mustang, is a student in the Prince William County School system, police said. She faces a charge of reckless driving.

According to police, the teen was driving northbound on Spriggs Road when the car left the roadway and struck Callahan. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver stayed at the scene, say police.

Police say texting was not a factor that lead to the crash.
