WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a wooded area in Rock Creek Park on Monday night.
On Monday at approximately 7:53 p.m., Police in D.C. say U.S. Park Police were notified that there was a body on the bank of Rock Creek in Grove #6 near Beach Drive and Joyce Road, NW.
D.C. police say Park Police found an unconscious man with apparent stab wounds when they responded to the scene. D.C. Fire members arrived at the scene and "found no signs consistent with life," according to police.
The man's body was then taken to the medical examiner. The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cuase and manner of death, but police are investigating the man's death as a homicide.
Police are waiting until the man's family is notified before releasing his name.
Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for this crime. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099.
