MONTGOMERY COUNTY (WUSA9) -- Fire and Rescue crews are going back to the scene on Tuesday where a man jumped into the Potomac River.
Police received a call at around 8:00 p.m. Monday that a 24-year-old man went into the water from an observation platform and was swept away. Two boats were sent into the water and the US Park Police helicopter is also assisting, police said.
The victim reportedly jumped in the water after sitting on the rocks with some friends. He was wearing khaki pants and did not have a shirt on, police said.
Search efforts began on Monday but were suspended in the evening around 10 p.m.
"Three people have died in the Potomac River since June 26th," Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said.
