TEMPLE HILLS, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County Sheriff's Office authorities say two brothers were arrested and charged with burglary earlier this month.
Myron Knott and Lawrence Knott are accused of removing copper piping from a residence in the 6700 block of Edgemere Drive in Temple Hills in early August, say authorities. According to the warrant, a detective spotted Lawrence Knott leaving the backyard with a water cooler with pieces of cut copper piping inside. A black trash can containing addition pieces were also found in the backyard, say authorities. The detective discovered that Knott did not live at the home and the pieces did not belong to the homeowner.
Days later, another burglary was reported in the same block, according to authorities. Detectives determined that Myron Knott entered a home through a basement windo and removed copper piping. In the process, he caused approximately $3,000 worth of damage, say authorities. He fled the home.
Authorities say the warrant connects the items found in the cooler with the second location.
The brothers were later found in the 5200 block of Edgemere Court, according to authorities. They are both charged with first degree burglary, fourth degree burglary, theft: $1,000 to under $10,000 and malicious destruction of property valued over $500.
