WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- It took a special nudge from a certain gospel legend who shared the podium with Dr. Martin Luther King for the civil rights leader to share his dream in 1963.
Dr. Lewis Brown says he is the second cousin to Mahalia Jackson. He watched videos of the March on Washington as a child and currently possesses original video of the historic day.
The couple is continuing the legacy of community involvement and starting a justice center focused on the environment next month. They plan on attending Wednesday's anniversary event and hope to follow in familiar footsteps.
He explained: "I want to be a part of it...something great."
