WHEATON, Md. (WUSA9) -- A 70-year-old woman who was struck by a car in Wheaton on Thursday afternoon has died, according to Montgomery County Police.
Police say she was struck at Georgia Avenue and Henderson Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. The striking vehicle, a silver 1999 Honda Accord, was driven by a 91-year-old woman.
According to police, the Accord was traveling northbound on Georgia Avenue while 70-year-old Barbara Jean Green of Washington, DC was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Georgia Avenue in a marked crosswalk. Green was then hit by the Accord.
Green was transported to Suburban Hospital and was initially expected to survive, say police. Friday morning, police told us that her condition deteriorated at the hospital and she succumbed to her injuries early Friday morning.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 91-year-old Miriam Rose Parizer of Silver Spring. She and her 88-year-old female passenger were not injured in the collison, say police.
