SEVERN, Md. (WUSA9) -- A 25-year-old man was killed Monday morning in Severn when a trench he was working in collapsed, said Anne Arundel Division Chief Keith Swindell.
The collapse occurred about 10 a.m where work was being done behind a single-family house in the 1000 block Leyton Lane. The man was working on a 7-feet-deep trench when the dirt around it collapsed, officials said.
It took 45 rescue personnel and 3-and-a-half hours to to recover him. He was pronounced dead on the scene, officials said.
Swindell said the trench was not shored.
