FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man dies after being struck by two cars, the first of which fled the scene, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office says.
On Wednesday, at about 11:38 p.m. 32-year-old Levon Duvall Hallenbeck was walking along northbound Buckeystown Pike when he was hit by a vehicle which fled the scene. Shortly after, a second vehicle going in the same direction did not see the Hallenbeck lying on the street and struck him again, deputies said.
The second car stayed on the scene. Witnesses describe the car who initial struck the man as a 4-door passenger vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Malibu.
Hallenbeck was pronounced dead on the scene by Frederick County Fire/Rescue personnel, deputies said.
The Sherriff's Office is requesting assistance in identifying the striking vehicle and operator. Anyone with any information about this hit and run accident should contact Cpl. Colantuno directly at 301-600-3908.
