(WUSA9) -- Days later, police are still looking for a man who got away from police in Fauquier County wearing nothing but his boxers.

Fauquier County Sheriff's Office say Lafonzo French was taken into custody at 5:30 a.m. Monday after a search warrant was executed at a location in the county. He was transferred to a deputy for transport but somehow French broke free and escaped.

French was last seen wearing white boxer shorts and running in the woods in the area of the 5600 block of Beach Road near Meetze Road, say authorities. Authorities say they used the citywatch emergency notification system to alert area residents.

According to authorities, French has a violent criminal history. French is now wanted for 1 misdemeanor of resisting arrest and 5 drug related felonies, 3 counts of distribution of cocaine, 1 count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and 1 count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, say authorities.

Detectives are conducting interviews and following up on leads, say authorities. Authorities say at this point, there's no indication residents are in any danger but they encourage people to call 911 is they spot French.

French is described as a 40-year-old black male, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, 175 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes (see photo).
