LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County Police say they have solved a 30-year-old cold case.
Police say DNA has linked a man to the murder of Stephanie Sue Watson of Laurel. Watson, was 27 years old, left for work the night of July 22, 1982 and never arrived, say police. Police say her remains were positively identified a few months later.
Police say in March 2013, detectives sent DNA recovered from the victim's car for testing and it positively matched 68-year-old John Ernest Walsh.
Walsh was in custody on unrelated charges, say police.
Police are set to give details about the case on Tuesday afternoon. We will have that information here shortly.
