UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- The mother of a 7-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted behind her apartment complex in Prince George's County on Saturday is speaking out, all while police go door-to-door asking for her neighbor's help.
The mother of the victim, who doesn't want to be identified, says her little girl can't forget, "She's distraught. She just wants to be a kid again. She asked me can we go on a vacation so she can stop thinking about it. I'm hurt, I cry a lot."
Prince George's County Police went door to door Monday night, handing out fliers throughout the Heathermore Boulevard apartment complex in Upper Marlboro. Police say it was Saturday around 3 p.m. when the little girl was on a scooter, playing with friends and at some point, peeled off from the group. The suspect pulled her into the woods at gunpoint, that's when the nightmare began.
"That's a shocker and I'm just praying for her family," said Jacquelyn Sellman, who lives in the complex.
"I was outraged to hear such a story, I have two daughters, I just would never think that something like this could happen right in front of or near our buildings" said Kimberley Gaskins.
Officers searched the area but were not able to find him nor many clues.
The man is described as an older white male with a heavy build. He is bald with a goatee-style gray beard.
The victim's mom has one request, "I want justice to be served, this is sick, this is scary, every parent is scared because she was ridnig her bike in broad daylight."
