WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- DC residents were alarmed after hearing an explosion on Sunday that appears to have been caused by fireworks, officials say.
At about 6:41 p.m. the DC Fire Department received several calls of an alley way explosion in the area of 3rd and K St Northeast, said Tim Wilson, the fire department public information officer.
Officials found additional fireworks in a backpack and are questioning a suspect, said D.C. police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump.
Residents said nearby buildings and windows raddled. No injures or structure damage were reported.
