WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Thursday morning, OPM sent out an alert that says "Federal agencies in the Washington, DC, area are OPEN and employees have the OPTION for UNSCHEDULED LEAVE OR UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK."
OPM says non-emergency employees can contact their supervisor if they wish to use any of those options.
Additionally, "In accordance with their agency's policies and procedures, subject to any applicable collective bargaining requirements, non-emergency employees have the option to use: earned annual leave, compensatory time off, credit hours, or sick leave, as appropriate; leave without pay; or their flexible work schedule day off or rearrange their work hours under flexible work schedules."
OPM says Telework-ready employees who are regularly scheduled to perform telework or who intend to perform unscheduled telework "must be prepared to telework for the entire workday," take unscheduled leave, or do some combination of both options for the full day.
Emergency employees are expected to go to their worksites on time unless their agencies say otherwise.
