FBI Investigating 2 Attempted Bank Robberies In Arlington

ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA9) - Arlington County Police and agents with the FBI's Washington Field Office are trying to identify a bank robbery suspect. Police say he was captured in surveillance footage at separate locations on Monday during two robbery attempts.

The first robbery attempt occurred at 11:08 a.m. in the 3700 block of Lee Highway at the Suntrust Bank inside of Safeway, say police. Twenty minutes later, the man attempted to rob the PNC Bank inside the Giant food store in the 2900 block of S. Glebe Road. In both incidents, the man approached the teller with a handwritten note demanding money and implying he had a weapon, say police. Police report that he fled both times without receiving money.

Police say he is described as black male in his late forties or early fifties with a medium build. He was wearing a striped polo shirt underneath a dark-colored jacket, with blue jeans and a Washington Nationals baseball hat.
