WASHINGTON (WUSA 9) -- DC Police are investigating a double shooting in northwest DC that has left one man dead, capping off a violent night in the District.
Metropolitan police are currently working in the unit block of Pierce St. and the 1100 block of 1st Place in the Sursum Corda neighborhood where two men were shot just before 4:00 Thursday morning. According to police, one of the men has died. The second victim was shot in the foot and taken to a local hospital.
MPD officers began their busy night when a stabbing was reported at 2nd and E Streets NW around 10:00 Wednesday night. A male victim was found in the area and taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Approximately 20 minutes after receiving the report of the stabbing in NW, police were called to the 1600 block of 21st Street SE for a shooting. They found 33-year-old Rodney Ellis Gardner of D.C. suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported him to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, say police.
The Metropolitan Police Department offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
