WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Officials say the US Department of Labor's Frances Perkins Building is closed Friday after an overnight fire.
According to the Associated Press, the fire was reported at approximately 4:35 a.m. Friday but a sprinkler system put out the blaze before firefighters arrived at the scene. Fire officials do not know what caused the fire, reports AP.
Officials say Perkins Building employees who were scheduled to work on-site should receive administrative leave. Also, DOL Telework-Eligible Employees who are scheduled to perform telework Friday must telework the entire workday, request leave, or a combination of both. Additionally, Telework-Eligible Employees that do not have a scheduled telework day may telework but are not required to do so. Those employees, officials say, are entitled to administrative leave for any hours not worked. Lastly, DOL Emergency Employees are expected to report to their worksites unless otherwise directed, say officials.
