LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County Police are investigating the deaths of two people at an apartment complex in the 9600 block of Muirkirk Road in Laurel.
We are told somebody called the police worried about the welfare of the couple that lives in that apartment and their young adult daughter at approximately 8:22 a.m. Thursday. When the officer arrived, he found the couple dead -- a man and a woman in their 40s -- and a young woman, who neighbors say is a quadriplegic, in need of medical help. She was rushed to the hospital for an evaluation, say authorities. She is expected to be released soon.
Police have not said whether there are any obvious signs of trauma. The victims have been identified as 42-year-old James Vell Ferguson and 45-year-old Tina Towler, both of the 9600 block of Muirkirk Road in Laurel, police said.
Sources say the couple may have been stabbed repeatedly and may have been clubbed, with their daughter unable to help, reports WUSA 9's Bruce Leshan.
Grieving family members are arriving at the complex and neighbors are craning their necks from balconies to look at the ground floor apartment. Neighbors say that the man who lived at the apartment was a nice guy, but that he lead the kind of lifestyle that might make him vulnerable to an attack.
Dozens of police vehicles are at the scene investigating.
