CULPEPER, Va. (WUSA9) -- Two former Culpeper County Public School employees have been charged with physically assaulting a 5-year-old autistic boy.
Linda Rastall, 50, a former teacher's aide, and Betty Turner, 56, a former bus aide were arrested on Monday after assaulting the child, The Culpeper County Sheriff's Office said in a release.
The incident took place on Feb. 20, when the child started crying after a toy was taken away from him. Rastall and Turner then physically and verbally assaulted the boy in an attempt to control him, the release stated.
The two former-employees were charged with assault and battery, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, both misdemeanors.
Rastall and Turner were released on bond and have a court appearance set for May 8 appearance in the Culpeper Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
