GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County Police released the identity of a man who died after getting tasered by police.
According to Montgomery County Police, officers were called to the 8000 block of Cross Country Ct. for the report of an unruly person around 6 p.m. Friday. They arrived to find 51-year-old Anthony Howard in a truck acting in an out-of-control manner - yelling profanities, throwing rocks and crawling on other cars.
After the subject failed to comply with instructions, the officer used his pepper spray when the man ran away. Officials say the subject remained aggressive, and struck the front door of a home with a child's scooter. After the man refused commands, two officers deployed their tasers.
While the man was put into handcuffs, officers reportedly noticed he was not breathing. CPR was administered unsuccessfully.
The five officers involved with this incident are now on administrative leave. The identity of the deceased has yet to be released.
Police say the person was pronounced dead at Shady Grove Hospital. Detectives are further investigating this incident.
