(USA TODAY) -- He lives with his widowed mama. He advocates on behalf of those with mental illness. And now, Bradley Cooper has checked in on one of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings, Jeffrey Bauman Jr., who lost both of his legs below the knee.
Bauman was depicted in an AP photo that's turned iconic - the man in the wheelchair being pushed away from the finish line by a man in a cowboy hat.
The actor was accompanied by New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman, who tweeted a picture of from Bauman's hospital bed alongside the caption: "Visited #survivor #stud #hero Jeffrey Bauman Jr. today. He was looking great and is a true inspiration. #strong"
It was an act reminiscent of Christian Bale's meeting with victims of the Aurora, Colo., theater shooting last year.
Cooper is in Boston filming Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell's next movie, American Hustle, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Christian Bale.
Watch out, Ryan Gosling. You've got competition in the world of swoon-worthy star samaritans.
