Md. Abandoned House, Brush Fire Under Investigation

LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) --  Howard County fire officials say they investigating a fire from Sunday night that either started at an abandoned house or in brush.

According to officials, at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday,  firefighters responded to the report of a brush fire in the 9000 block of Whiskey Bottom Road in Laurel. The firefighters found an abandoned house fully engulfed in fire as well as several brush fires, say officials.

They called for more firefighters, and additional units from Howard, Anne Arundel, and Prince George's County arrived to help extinguish the fire with 4x4 brush trucks and an ATV, say officials.

Official say the fires were brought under control within 1 hour.

There were no injuries.
