GERMANTOWN, Md. (WUSA9) -- A 20-year-old woman was killed when her car collided with a taxi cab early Saturday morning.
According to Montgomery County Police, officers and Fire/Rescue responded to reports of a serious collision on Mateny Road and Clopper Road at about 2:41 a.m.
Police said preliminary investigations indicate that a 2004 Honda Civic was traveling north on Mateny Road when it entered the intersection and collided with a Regency taxi cab that was traveling east on Clopper Road.
The Honda spun 180 degrees, traveled south on Mateny Road, left the roadway and struck a tree, police said.
The driver of the Honda was identified as Colleen Nichole Bell, 20, of the 19100 block of Highstream Drive in Germantown. She died due to her injures on the scene, police said.
The taxi driver, 31-year-old Mabeen Basharat, was injured but was not transported to a hospital, police said.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
