ODENTON, Md. (AP) - Police say three people were killed and a fourth was critically injured when a car ran off the road in Odenton and hit a light pole and two trees.
Anne Arundel County police say excessive speed was a factor in the crash, which occurred early Sunday morning on Piney Orchard Parkway.
Police say the driver, 22-year-old David D'augustine, was killed. Also killed were 22-year-old Samuel Schindler and 22-year-old Katherine Warrington. All three were from Odenton. Twenty-three-year-old Michael Phillip of Gambrills was critically injured. After he was extricated from the car, he was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. The other three were pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation. It's unclear whether there were factors other than speed that contributed to the crash.
