WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Kentucky Senator Rand Paul took to the Senator floor and as of Wednesday, he or one of his allies is still talking.
Its an old-school filbuster, like Mr. Smith comes to Washington, except Jimmy Stewart never had to worry about Domestic drone strikes.
See, Attorney General Eric Holder has refused to rule out a situation in which a drone strike might be used to kill American citizens on U.S. soil, just because the government says they're bad guys.
Senator Paul argues the real victim of such an attack would be the U.S. constitution, specifically the 5th amendment which says Uncle Sam cannot blow you up or even put you in jail for that matter, without due process.
Paul says he doesn't question anyone's patriotism or good intentions, it's just that nobody in power should have that much power.
And while fighting domestic terrorism demands tough choices, Senator Paul is demanding clarity from the White House on how those choices will be made.
Senator Paul's voice probably won't last much longer. But I for one am glad to see him raising it, asking the right questions. As one senator put it, you must surely be making Jimmy Stewart smile.
