CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. (WUSA) -- Prince George's County police have announced an arrest in the murder of a 71-year-old woman from earlier this month.

Police Chief Mark Magaw says they have arrested 46-year-old James Alphonso Ward in relation to the murder of Geraldine McIntyre.

McIntyre was attacked in her home in the 1200 block of Chapel Oaks Drive on February 9. Police got a call for a welfare check around 2:30 p.m. and when they arrived, they found her suffering from upper body trauma. McIntyre died at the hospital.

Ward is charged with first degree murder, second degree murder and first degree assault, according to charging documents.

Charging documents show that McIntyre died of multiple stab wounds, and that her television and DVD player were stolen.

According to charging documents, a witness told police that he/she saw from her window on Feb. 9 a man he/she knows as "Juju" walking down the street towards McIntyre's home and that Juju kater brought a television to  the witness' house. Juju then reportedly sold the TV to the witness for $40, according to charging documents. The documents also indicate that once the witness released that the TV may belong to McIntyre he/she notified police. The police picked up the television and processed it for evidence on Feb. 22. According to the charging documents, police also asked the witness to identify the seller from an eight-person array and the photo of James Ward or "Juju" was selected.

Ward is already being held at the Prince George's County Detention Center on an unrelated breaking and entering charge, according to the documents.
