DALE CITY, Va. (WUSA9) -- A Chevrolet Silverado with five juveniles inside smashed into a home on Cardinal Drive and Choate Court in Dale City, Va. on Tuesday morning, says Prince William County Police Spokesperson Jonathon Perok. The juveniles ran from the vehicle but were caught a short time later, according to Perok.
Officials say the juveniles walked away from the Molinari Emergency Shelter Home in Manassas on Tuesday morning. Staff at the facility told police that four females and one male had left the facility, according.
The juveniles are accused of stealing a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado from Reynolds Place in Manassas, say police. The juveniles then reportedly went back to Williamstown in Dumfries and then one female left.
Tuesday morning at approximately 7:40, police say they received several calls about a truck matching that description of the stolen vehicle driving recklessly on Kilpatrick Place. Police say they were told the truck had struck a parked vehicle on the street and then fled.
A deputy found the truck shortly after 8 a.m. on Jefferson Davis Highway approaching Cardinal Drive, say police. Police say that the deputy tried to make a traffic stop but the driver kept going, and made a left onto Cardinal Drive and then continued to Choate Court. The driver lost control of the truck and crashed into a home.
Sky 9 video shows the truck traveled up onto the porch of a home, and through the front door. The four juveniles fled but were cuaght later.
Perok says that the four people inside the house were not injured. According to Perok, they were removed quickly from the home and the Red Cross is now helping the family relocate.
Fitzgerald Elementary School temporarily went into precautionary secure-the-building status but it was later lifted. At no time were students and staff in any danger, say school officials.
The fifth juvenile, who was not involved in the crash, was also found, say police. Perok says police have interviewed all five and that charges are "forthcoming."
The investigation is ongoing.
