FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. (WUSA) -- Maryland State Police say a vehicle speeding in Frederick County on Monday morning didn't stop for an emergency vehicle and then hit a concrete median and sidewalk. Officials say they later found out the vehicle was reported stolen several days before.

At approximately 1:20 a.m., a Maryland State Police trooper on I-70 eastbound spotted a black Toyota Rav 4 traveling faster than 100 miles per hour, say state police officials. According to police, the vehicle exited eastbound I-70 and fled southbound on I-270, not stopping for an emergency vehicle with its equipment activated.  The vehicle then traveled onto northbound Rt. 85 to the intersection of Rt. 355 where it failed to go around a curve correctly. It stuck a concrete median and then a sidewalk.

The driver saw the trooper and fled from the vehicle into a wooded area.  The trooper performed an MVA check of the license plates, which showed the vehicle was reported as stolen to the Frederick County Sheriff's Department on February 7.

Law enforcement searched for the suspect and found someone matching the description in the area. Police say the suspect was released with charges pending.
