ST. INIGOES, Md. (WUSA) -- Thursday night, a man was shot and killed during a struggle after two men entered a St. Inigoes home and tried to rob him.
According to St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, officers arrived at a home at 9:25 p.m. Thursday for the report of a robbery and shooting. They found a man, later identified as 37-year-old Robert L. McDowney, lying on the floor suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives with the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations determined that two African American males forced their way into the home through the front door and announced a robbery. There was a struggle, and one of the intruders took out a handgun and shot McDowney. Both intruders left in a silver in color Ford Fusion.
The first suspect is described as an African American male with a dark complexion, 5'7" tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds. He was wearing an orange and black bandana and blue jeans.
The second suspect is described as an African American male with a light complexion, 6"2" to 6'3" tall, weighing between 215 and 240 pounds. He wearing an orange and black jacket with a hood and blue jeans.
