FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA) -- Frederick Police say a Virginia man has been arrested in relation to a smash and grab robbery from a jewelry story.
Alonzo Meadows was arrested on warrant for his involvement in the armed robbery of Colonial Jewelers, say Frederick Police.
On Tuesday, three suspects were caught on tape pepper spraying employees and customers at 1 South Market Street at about 1:30 p.m. One man entered the store with a gun and two others followed. One man was holding a can of pepper spray.
The men ordered everyone to get down on the floor, broke a glass jewelry case, grabbed jewelry and fled the scene, police said. Frederick Police said the men deployed pepper spray on their way out.
Police say the suspects entered a black pick-up truck bearing Virginia tags and drove away. A detective was able to get the tag number.
On Wednesday, officers with The Metropolitan Police Department helped find Alonzo Meadows of Fairfax, Va., who was reportedly driving the black pickup truck. He is being held by D.C. police on a fugitive warrant. His truck is being processed for evidence.
Police are still trying to identify the other two suspects.
