WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- A man who was shot after reportedly stabbing an officer in D.C. late Tuesday night now faces charges.
Metropolitan Police Department officials say officers were called to the 6400 block of 13th St. around 11:03 p.m. for a domestic violence call. Once officers arrived on scene they found a suspect inside the home who was violating of a civil protection order. Police say the suspect attacked one of the officers, stabbing one of them twice in the back. That's when one of the officers fired his weapon, striking the suspect in the face.
Officials say the injured officer was treated and released from the hospital.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.
A police spokesperson says the suspect faces several charges, including assault on a police officer and burglary.
The investigation is ongoing.
