FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA) -- Ricky Darnell Bowie is behind bars after resisting arrest during a routine traffic stop early Saturday, police said.
According to Frederick Police, an officer noticed a silver Honda driven by a male with a female passenger near the 400 block of West South Street. Soon after the officer saw the same car but the occupants had switched seats.
The officer became suspicious and began following the car, which did not stop at a red light. The officer pulled the car over and determined the male, Ricky Darnell Bowie, had a suspended and revoked license, police said.
Bowie began kicking officers and resisted being handcuffed when he was informed that he was under arrest. After a brief struggle police were able to subdue him. Officers then searched the car and found marijuana.
Bowie was charged with driving on a revoked privilege, driving on a suspended privilege, driving without a license, resisting arrest, second degree assault, possession of marijuana less than 10 grams.
