GREENBELT, Md. (WUSA) -- A child was hit by a car and was taken to an area hospital on Tuesday night in Greenbelt.

The accident took place on the 6000 block of Breezewood Dr. at about 6:13 p.m. on Tuesday. Police say the car stayed on the scene after the incident. 

Authorities have not released the age, gender or severity of the child's injuries.
