FORESTVILLE, Md. (WUSA) -- A Forestville man is behind bars after shooting at police officers as they were executing a search warrant at his home, Prince George's County Police said.
On Jan. 28 at about 5 a.m., officers were serving a narcotics search warrant at the 3300 block of Walters Lane, when they encountered a steal door as they attempted entry. Police say they asked the occupants to open the door several times before officers used a two-man ram to gain entry. Just before the officers were able to get inside the suspect fired at the officers but the bullet got lodged in the heavy steel door.
According to detectives, after the first shot the suspect's gun jammed preventing him from continuing to shot. The suspect then ran into the rear bedroom and threw the gun out the window before he was arrested. Police recovered the .22 caliber handgun, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
Jeremiah Ronald Pearson, 25, has been charged with multiple counts of attempted murder.
