WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- D.C. Council Member Mary Cheh introduced a bill Tuesday morning that would require D.C. police to release mug shots to the public.
Part of the Mug Shot Access Act of 2013 reads:
"Sec. 2. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Metropolitan Police Department shall make the booking photograph of an arrested person available to any person upon written request.
(b) The Metropolitan Police Department may release booking photographs in any format in which they are kept, and may charge a reasonable fee established by the Mayor or his or her designee to cover the cost of producing a copy of the photograph."
